What You Need to Know...

So let’s start with the basics. I’m a technologist turned social entrepreneur finishing his late 20s in the San Francisco Bay Area. After helping to craft ~600 résumés, supporting 150 interviews, mentoring ~50 (mostly engineering) college students, spending five years gaining a Bachelors in engineering, working for four large corporations, and enabling 3 nonprofits – well, I wanted leverage the learnings from those experiences and build a team that helped others with their stories.

I’ll also tell you that though I’m a full-time storyteller, I – and many of my team – can only work with CMD “part-time.” My previous day job was as a supply chain program manager with project management, LSS process improvement, and facilitation responsibilities. Currently, I’m a full-time MBA student at UC Berkeley HASS investigating the intersection of project management and venture capital. I’ve been telling stories within the supply chains of different fortune 100 companies for five years, and I love it!

What You Would Like to Know...

Most people LIKE to know that I studied Industrial & Systems Engineering (and Business, and Mandarin, and Economics) at Georgia Tech and am pursuing an MBA at UC Berkeley Haas. They like to know I’m an African-American transplant to the San Francisco Bay Area, originally from Albany, GA, whose middle class privilege allowed for an abundance of domestic and international travel at a young age.

They like to know I grew up as a generalist. Yes, I’m an anime watching, book reading engineer, but I also play soccer and basketball, love improv comedy, and used to co-lead a cooking show and short movie film crew.

What I Want You to Know...

I want you to know that at my core, I’m a mentor, a storyteller, and an extreme introvert – yes, introverts can do public speaking, be involved in the community, and start companies too!

I want you to know I don’t subscribe to the #hustleculture. To me, success is 7-8 hours of sleep every day (and maybe a few naps here and there). Success is anime-themed movie nights, weeknight potlucks with friends, a soccer match on the weekends, voting based on your values, and doing socially impactful projects with global teams. You can add the fame and fortune on the side, but not if it costs extra.

I want you to know CMD is my passion project, and the work our team does carries significant emotional and professional weight; but what I value is building relationships, creating options, & learning every day.

I want you to know I’m still figuring life out and enjoying the process of change. That means growing beyond my engineering roots, leaning into the realm of emotional intelligence, reading broadly, and building up the ability to focus on what’s most important. It also means a lot of experiments, failure, laughs, tears, and dreaming.

Finally, I want you to know CMD is my strategic bet. A bet that stories have power. A bet that systems can be changed. A bet that there are better, more equitable ways to go about career development. If you know nothing else about me, I want you to know I’m a (slightly eccentric) mentor, an avid storyteller, an extreme introvert, and of course – a chocolate milk connoisseur.

If you want to chat about mentoring, career navigation, community empowerment or a really creative collaboration, I’d love to chat. That’s my story (most of it anyway). One day, I hope we can meet and you’ll allow me to hear yours. Until then, I’ll be writing resumes, running workshops, playing soccer, and mentoring the next generation. If there’s anything my adventurous team of storytellers can help you with, please connect with us. We’ll bring our best stories, a little humor, and a few bottles of chocolate milk.

What CMD is NOT

As important as who we are, is who we are not.

CMD IS NOT YOUR LICENSED THERAPIST...

but we can help you shift your perspective and create new realities for yourself. Also not to brag, but we have been called “Résumé Doctors.”

CMD IS NOT A PREDATORY CONSULTANCY THAT CHARGES ridiculous RATES AND PRAYS ON INSECURITIES...

but we are passionate storytellers who re-invest 100% of the profit we make into our organization, services, and communities we serve.
